Formed in 2023, Grave Heist started with just two members – Ethan Portes-Chaikin and Zach Kenny – and quickly grew into what it is today with the inclusion of Dan Shaw, Josh Obijiski. With Kevin Platt on bass, the band seeks to reach new heights. Grave Heist hails from the Hudson Valley, and have been a part of the hardcore scene as individuals for decades. The band started with only a few songs written and evolved into a music making machine within a very short period of time. In just their first year, Grave Heist performed live over 20 times, and produced three separate releases, all of which received great praise. In 2024 and beyond, Grave Heist looks to expand their New York flare into other regions and release more of the mosh-inducing music that our fans are accustomed to.

Ethan has accumulated a rich musical background. Fronting multiple different projects, and producing multiple different genres of music, Ethan serves as the effervescent guide to the band’s journey. As the band’s front man, Ethan brings an excitement to the stage that is rarely found amongst the generic and lackluster. With a lyrical expertise that spans over two decades, Ethan’s inspirations come from a plethora of different outlets. The guttural layers of Ethan’s vocal are enough to scare and entice any fan of heavy metal who is willing to listen. His lyrics sink deep, speaking to the disenfranchised, and the tortured souls of the world today.
Zach Kenny – Guitar

Zach is the foundation of Grave Heist, lending his unique inspirations to the character of the band. One of the founding members, he embodies the soul of the band, writing mean riffs and tantalizing solos. Zach sinks himself deeply into everything he does musically, creating a vibe through his live performance that brings crowds to their knees as they beg for more. He is inspired by bands like Power Trip, Hatebreed, Backtrack, and Bitter End – all of which are evident in his writing style. Zach spent his college days in the heart of Massachusetts, enveloping himself in the scene as he developed his style.
Dan Shaw – Drums

Dan has a history of kick flips and drum fills that is laden with groove and skill. He has played drums in over fifteen bands including Media Blitz and Rise – and he has the showmanship to prove it. Most refer to Dan as unique because of a style of drumming that few can replicate – one that he flaunts with an undeniable flare. With Dan behind the kit, Grave Heist achieves a funkiness that isn’t normally found in the crossover thrash and hardcore genres. Plenty of people ask him how he got his groove, and his response is always the same: self taught, baby, self taught! Dan is currently sponsored by SJC Drums.
Josh Obijiski – Guitar

Josh is a kindred spirit, writing riffs that roar with thrash tendencies and hardcore styling. Josh serves as the band’s secret weapon, writing songs that bring a unique vibe to the band’s overall sound. With a captivating style of playing, Josh is paving the way for a new type of crossover hardcore that is guaranteed to reign supreme. Having been a involved in the scene for over three decades, Josh and Dan grew up playing music together in bands like Shoot The Messenger, and Wooden Ships. Josh brings an energy to the music that it may have been lacking otherwise. The band wholesomely refers to him as “the final piece to the puzzle.”
Kevin Platt – Bass

Kevin rips the bass, and serves as part of the rhythmic foundation for Grave Heist. Kevin has been a part of the scene for over seventeen years. He’s booked countless shows under KP Productions and has worked with numerous local artists to bring music to the Hudson Valley. With a knack for session work and a grizzled right hand, Kevin is the final piece to the mayhem that the band brings. Inspired by bands like Recon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Sanguisugabogg, he shreds through those fat strings with ease. Kevin has played in many bands previously, including but not limited to Them and Worn Thin. With the addition of Kevin to the fold, Grave Heist plans on dominating more than just the Downstate Jungle.
